Big Bang! Abstract Painting for the 21st Century
January 17th, 2007
The DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park (51 Sandy Pond Rd, Lincoln, MA 01773) is putting on a show of abstract paintings, January 20th through April 22nd. The “imagery is informed by contemporary issues such as computer technology, cosmology, quantum physics, information theory, genetics, complexity theory, remote sensing, and other sets of current scientific visual languages.”
One of my colleagues, Steve Bogart, is among the artists. He teaches in the performing arts department back at my home school–Lexington High School in Lexington, MA. He’s a thoughtful and intellectually curious fella who even went so far as to sit in on my astronomy class’s discussion of inflationary theory. The students respect him, and that counts for a lot in my book. I think while he was there they actually tried to impress him.
Anywho, if you’re in the area you should swing by. I’ve seen his work, and photos don’t do it justice.
